Region’s Best Advertising Showcased at Annual ADDY Awards Print E-mail

Dozens of representatives from the northern Illinois advertising and marketing community gathered Thursday, March 4, at the Sullivan Center in downtown Rockford as the annual ADDY advertising awards were presented. The Best of Show winner was awarded to the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway website (www.IllinoisRoute66.org ) developed by GrahamSpencer of Rockford, Ill.

About the ADDY Awards

Sanctioned by the AAF, the ADDY Awards honor excellence in advertising and cultivate the highest creative standards in the industry. The competition begins at the local level with the 210 AAF member clubs nationwide, from which local winners proceed to 14 regional competitions, and those winners proceed to the national finals. Gold ADDY winners from Rockford advance to the AAF District 6 competition to be judged against ADDY winners from other ad clubs in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. District Gold ADDY winners move on to the National ADDY competition. The AAF Northern Illinois announced that three esteemed advertising professionals will acknowledge the highest standards in advertising creativity as judges for this year’s ADDY Awards. This three member creative panel, featuring the top advertising talent in the region, will conduct judging the weekend of February 20, at KMK Media Group in Rockford, IL.

AAF NI Issues Call for Entries for 2009-2010 ADDY Awards Print E-mail

The American Advertising Federation of Northern Illinois has issued its Call for Entries for the 2009–2010 AAF Northern Illinois ADDY® Awards Competition.

The annual AAF Northern Illinois ADDY Awards Competition recognizes exceptional advertising created in the Rockford Metropolitan Market. The ADDY Awards honor advertising excellence in all media including print, broadcast, out-of-home and public service advertising.

All entries must be received by Noon on Friday, February 12 at KMK Media Group, 1111 S. Alpine Rd., Suite 300. Entry fees are $75 for members of the AAF NI, and $150 for nonmembers.

 

A distinguished panel of advertising creative executives will gather in Rockford the weekend of February 20, to select the winners from an anticipated 70 entries. To be eligible for consideration of an ADDY, all work must have been published or aired between January 1 and December 31, 2009.

AAF NI Donates Books for Disadvantaged Youths Print E-mail

The American Advertising Federation of Northern Illinois collected 238 children’s books for the Barnes & Noble Holiday Book Drive. Ad Fed members donated the books to the Barnes & Noble store at Cherryvale Mall on December 22.

“We’re thankful for the generous contributions of books from the advertising community to help disadvantaged kids in the Rockford area,” said Doug Burton, AAF NI President.

Rockford author John Gile donated 150 copies of his book, “The First Forest,” to the Ad Fed for the book drive. The books will be distributed to homeless and disadvantaged children and young adults in the Rockford area.

Outstanding Advertising Recognized at 2009 ADDY Awards Print E-mail

The Rockford region’s advertising community gathered Tuesday night, March 10, at Rockford College for a gallery celebration of the annual ADDY advertising awards competition held by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) of Northern Illinois.

The University of Wisconsin Whitewater won Best of Show with their “Women of Metal Project,” a catalog and exhibition announcement campaign designed by Renee Melton.

Other best-of-show winners included the “Women of Metal Exhibition Brochure” (Best of Show for Print) and the “2008 Hospice TV Campaign” (Best of Show for Media) produced by Heinzeroth Marketing Group. Judge’s Choice Awards were given to Rockford Health System for their “Rockford Memorial Development Foundation Wishbook 2008,” Heinzeroth Marketing Group, for their “Belvedere New Product Brochure,” and Fetelli, for the “Foehr Group Brand Campaign.”

“The ADDY Awards represent the best of the Rockford market’s best creative advertising,” says Lori Wallace, KMK Media Group and ADDY Chair of the AAF-Northern Illinois. “Our judges were impressed by the variety of work that was entered this year, as well as the quality of typography and photography produced here in Rockford.”

Locally, a 3-judge panel awarded 9 Gold ADDY awards, 11 Silver ADDYs, and 12 Bronze ADDYs from a selection of 59 entries. Gold ADDY winners from Rockford advance to the AAF District 6 competition to be judged against ADDY winners from other ad clubs in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. District Gold ADDY winners move on to the National ADDY competition, June 6, in Washington D.C.
